So we did a thing. A. Really. Big. Thing. Jorden and I bought a house in the country! We are mostly really excited/terrified/overwhelmed/exhausted/everything. We closed on June 8th and it has been crazy trying to get our current home “market” ready.
I started this blog to document our projects. Mostly so we can look back at this and talk ourselves out of ever taking on something like this again. We have a lot of work ahead of us but we are very excited about what it could be. I truly hope that evolves into something that you can take some inspiration from. I hope you will join us and feel sorry for us and maybe bring us pizza and beer.
This blog is called Wishful Farmhouse because of the house’s interesting history. It was moved to its current location (the country) in the 1960s from in the town of Davenport somewhere near St. Ambrose University. We have no idea when the house was actually built. Our guess is sometime around the late 1800s or early 1900s. We should know more when we start opening walls up. It’s also not a farmhouse. It sits on 1.39 acres, but it is surrounded by fields, just wishing it was a farm.
It is so fun to think about the memories our boys will make here. My wishes for them are many. I hope they can grow up like Jorden did (because he turned out pretty great!!). I hope they spend time climbing trees, even though I tell them not to. I hope they love the outdoors and nature and animals and want to do their best to care of all of it.
Love your new blog! My only input would be to darken the font. It’s a little light and hard for (my) eyes to read easily :). Can’t wait to see the next project!
Thanks, Lisa! I thought the same thing when I was looking at it on my phone! Still playing around with the techy stuff 🙂
I think I fixed it!
